Previously thought-lost Harold Lloyd film LUKE'S DOUBLE (1916) rediscovered

Silent Movie Day is excited to announce that a unique silent Harold Lloyd film has been found:

Good news for silent comedy film fans! A long lost Harold Lloyd short has been recovered by the Harold Lloyd Estate and has been deposited at the UCLA Film & Television Archive for eventual preservation. The 28mm print of the short comedy, Luke’s Double (released in 1916, and features Harold in his earlier “Lonesome Luke” persona), was originally gifted to Lloyd by the George Eastman House in the mid-1960s. The print subsequently disappeared in the following decades, but Robert Simonton recently tracked down the film and Harold’s granddaughter, Suzanne Lloyd, brought it to the Archive to join the rest of the Harold Lloyd Collection.

Sources list the cast as: Harold Lloyd [Lonesome Luke], Bebe Daniels, Snub Pollard, Gaylord Lloyd, Charles E. Stevenson, Sammy Brooks, Bud Jamison
