Silent Movie Day & National Coffee Day partner on The Unknown Blend - Press Release

The Unknown Blend - Press Release

For Immediate Release

Boutique coffee company Breakfast At Dominique's is proud to partner with Silent Movie Day on the release of The Unknown Blend honoring screen legend Joan Crawford in support of the National Film Preservation Foundation.

The Unknown Blend, themed as an homage to the 1927 silent Joan Crawford and Lon Chaney-led Thriller The Unknown, is a mystery flavored Dark Roast created to pique curiosity and elicit the same joy and suspense that one would feel watching the classic film for the first time.

The Unknown Blend will be joining a lineup of two previous coffee releases showcasing the diverse career of Joan Crawford including tributes to her iconic roles in Grand Hotel (link to The Grand Hotel Blend) and Chained (link to The Unchained Blend).

The packaging of this new coffee release features a trio of stunning Joan Crawford portraits from the filming of The Unknown as well as an eye-catching gold foil signature for the perfect touch of old Hollywood glamour.

September 29, 2024 is National Coffee Day and Silent Movie Day. In celebration of the double occasion, this coffee will begin shipping online (www.hollywoodblends.com) and in person at select locations on the holiday.

Coffee is available for pre-order here.

"Our creative collaborations on this line of Joan Crawford themed coffees make me so incredibly happy. Her career was impressive and very important to her. Joan's massive impact on cinema deserves to be highlighted and we are proud to be a small part of keeping it present in culture. Working with Crawford's grandson, Casey LaLonde, to dream up these unique homages to his one-of-a-kind grandmother is a gift that I treasure! Supporting the work of the NFPF is a pretty pink bow on top of that gift. Their work is priceless. We hope you enjoy having the ability to bring Joan into your home in an exciting new way." - Dominique Benedict (Breakfast At Dominique's; Owner)

"We're thrilled to mark Silent Movie Day and National Coffee Day on September 29th through a partnership with the classic Hollywood-themed roastery Breakfast at Dominique's. What better way is there to celebrate two essential joys in life than by sipping a cup of The Unknown Blend and watching a silent film together. We're pretty sure Joan Crawford would approve!" - Chad Hunter (Silent Movie Day; Co-Founder)

“Silent movies paved the way for the art of movies we love today. The National Film Preservation Foundation is excited to celebrate Silent Movie Day once again in 2024 and is grateful for the generosity of Breakfast At Dominique's. Without public support such as this, the NFPF would not be able to continue its mission of saving and promoting America’s film heritage.” - Jeff Lambert (National Film Preservation Foundation; Executive Director)

"From George Méliès' 1902 science-fiction masterpiece, A Trip to the Moon, to Tod Browning's 1927 horror classic The Unknown, Silent Movie Day celebrates our collective film history from its earliest days. Harold Lloyd, Clara Bow, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Lon Chaney, and my grandmother, Joan Crawford, all made indelible marks on the movie-going public.

It is through the work of the National Film Preservation Foundation and the annual Silent Movie Day that silent film continues to be celebrated and preserved." - Casey LaLonde (Grandson of Joan Crawford)
